Made arrangements to interview Rev. Tracey Lind for a project I was working on. Everything was confirmed weeks in advance, so I was surprised, after driving two hours to meet her, to have her greet me with, "Ok, so who are you and why were you wanting to interview me?" as her first words. I explained everything again (I'd already done so in my emails, which the secretary forwarded to her). I was slightly astonished when she told me, "Well, I have no idea who you are, so why would I want to be part of this project?" Again, this was after everything had been thoroughly explained in my initial emails. After explaining everything for a second time, she coldly replied, "Well, I don't know who you are, and I don't know why you'd think I'd do your work for you." I detailed how I was simply interviewing her, as a professional in her given field, as I had already interviewed several others, as people do when doing research, that she'd be credited for any contributions and that I'd happily put it in writing. She then haughtily replied, "I mean, I'm a published author. Why would I talk to YOU? This project isn't going to help ME because no one knows who you are. I'd suggest that you do your own research--get online, do your own work. You aren't going to use my name to try and be successful. I'm not interested in talking to you." And with that, she stood up, and I was promptly escorted out of her office. I was stunned and need not explain how rude and unprofessional she was, as it's evident from her disappointing, nasty behavior.

  • Ya'all as an Episcopalian from the south,I think that the Very Revered Tracey Lind is one hell of a theologian!I have listened to her iPodcasts and on-line sermons.
Dean Lind's theological work reflects: courage,a compassionate sense of global social justice, raw honesty, mastery of the Torah, chutzpah, bravery, and a graceful commitment to the Episcopal Church. She should have been elevated to the post of honorary auxiliary bishop.I'm sorry that did not come to pass.I give five stars to Trinity Cathedral and the Very Revered Dean Lind.
Wow,she was once a candidate for
bishop of New York City and faithfully served God many years as an ordained priest. She may have even served as a young priest in Bronx,N.Y.C.!I have heard that she was a super down to earth street smart CEO type of clergy member for 17 years!Talk about commitment! I realize that most successful Cathedral Deans are great high achievers.Deans of the Episcopal Church are often booked to the hilt with professional, ethical service work, and personal obligations.Sadly, they hardly find time to share a good cup of coffee and a doughnut with their own families!I propose that a day be set yearly to honor all past and present Episcopal Cathedral Deans in honor of the Very Revered Tracey Lind!!
